Songs with a tango flavor. They really fit her
Celeste Carballo, lead singer and producer of her next album Celos, came up with an unique material: 15 high class tracks that were registered live during a special show in which she performed songs with a tango flavor, the same songs that she used to listen at during her tours as a rock and roll performer plus other pieces she wrote herself. Two more songs were added to the project: her new tangos “Tiempo De Blues” and “Camino Real”, recorded in a studio by the same musicians that performed the live show. They are Franco Polimeni at the piano, Paul Dourge playing bass, Juanito Moro at the drums and Federico Vázquez at the bandoneon (or tango accordion). Alejandro Terán’s exquisite strings arrangement complete the staff.
The song “Celos”, originally performed by Gotan Project opens a list that includes “Fuimos” and “Tú”, written by the great composer José Dames, “Atril”, an until now unrecorded song by (tango master) Dany Melingo, specially given by him to Celeste; “Más que Amor”, written by Dany Tomas and Celeste Carballo; “Un Tango Desnuda”, the first tango song written by Celeste herself, with Roxana Curras, in a version that stands on its own next to any classic tango recording; “Buenos Aires No Tiene La Culpa”, music by José Colángelo, a musician from the Piazzola generation and lyrics by Celeste Carballo. “Un Amor De Aqueellos” and “Acompañada y Sola”, written by Chico Novarro and performed by Celeste as an homage to the great singer María Graña. The last two songs, “Aprendizaje” and “Qué Suerte Que Viniste” (two classic rock songs from Argentina) show the contact between the bandoneon and the rock leather jacket, rock music and tango style.
Throughout the album the listener can feel the warm of the public that admires the quality of the musician and the high degree of maturity that Celeste has reached as a performer. These are songs with a tango flavor in which the force and the vibes of the blues and the rock and roll, Celeste’s roots, are present.
Everything that took place at the stage of Celos can be enjoyed again in the first DVD that Celeste releases. Filmed live at the Centro Cultural Torcuato Tasso, in the city of Buenos Aires, you’ll feel like you got the best seat for the show. Adding to this Cece-Project, remixer and DJ Romina Cohn produced a version of “Un Tango Desnuda” and VJ Shagy has created a clip. Another remix with a music video were taken from the project, “Preludio Para El Año 3001″, remixed by Sgoliat vs KooLTURE. The music video, directed by Celeste Carballo herself, features a dance performance by Laura Feijoó.
